FAQ

Booking & Sessions

How far in advance should I book?

Our Santa sessions fill quickly each year. We recommend booking as early as possible to get your preferred date and set design.

Which session is right for my family?

Whether you're looking for our complete Magical Santa Experience, a shorter Santa Experience, or a Quick Take Session, we offer options to fit every family. Visit our Experience Options & Pricing page for details.

Can siblings participate together?

Absolutely! Siblings are encouraged to enjoy the experience together. We'll capture both individual and sibling portraits.

Can parents or grandparents be in the photos?

Yes! Family portraits with Santa are always welcome.

The Experience

What makes your Santa sessions different?

This is much more than a portrait session. Children become part of a magical Christmas story as they help Santa prepare for Christmas Eve through interactive activities designed to create genuine smiles, laughter, and wonder.

Is Santa a real-bearded Santa?

Yes! Santa John has been part of The Magical Santa Experience since 2015. His authentic appearance, warm personality, and love for children help create an unforgettable experience.

What activities will my child do?

Activities vary depending on the set and session, but may include:

  • Reading a Christmas story
  • Helping Santa make toys
  • Checking the Nice List
  • Tracking Santa's travels on the globe
  • Decorating the tree
  • Sharing milk and cookies
  • Catching magical snow
  • Flying in Santa's sleigh or magical toboggan

Children

What if my child is shy or nervous?

There's no need to worry. Santa John is incredibly patient and allows children to warm up at their own pace. Some children jump right in, while others simply enjoy watching at first. Every child is different, and we adjust the experience to make them feel comfortable.

My child has autism or special needs. Is that okay?

Absolutely. Santa John has experience working with children of all abilities and takes the time needed to create a relaxed, enjoyable experience for every family.

What ages are best?

The Magical Santa Experience is wonderful for babies, toddlers, children, teens, and even adults. We also welcome grandparents to join in the memories.

Clothing

What should my child wear?

Christmas pajamas, classic holiday outfits, rich reds, greens, plaids, creams, and cozy textures photograph beautifully.

Do you provide clothing?

Yes! We have a large wardrobe of children's Christmas pajamas and outfits available in many sizes.

Before Your Visit

Can I bring a special gift?

Absolutely! You're welcome to bring a wrapped gift for Santa to "discover" in his sack. Just let us know ahead of time so our elves can have it ready.

Can I bring a favorite toy or keepsake?

Yes! Special toys, books, or heirlooms can make your portraits even more meaningful.

Can I take photos during my session?

To preserve the magic and avoid distractions, we ask that no cameras or cell phone photography be used during your session.

After Your Session

When will my gallery be ready?

Most galleries are available approximately four weeks after your session. We always work as quickly as possible while carefully creating your artwork.

Will my images include magical artwork?

Our Full Magical Santa Experience includes signature magical artwork. Other session types vary, so please see the Experience Options page for details.

Can I order wall art, albums, and Christmas cards?

Yes! We offer heirloom wall art, albums, holiday cards, digital collections, and boutique keepsakes.

Policies

What if someone is sick?

If anyone in your family is feeling ill, please contact us as soon as possible so we can reschedule your session.

What if I'm running late?

Please arrive 5–10 minutes early. While we do our best to accommodate unexpected delays, late arrivals may reduce the time available for your session.

Will my child really believe Santa is the real Santa?

I think this is one of the most important questions you can answer.

I'd say something like:

Santa John isn't simply posing for photographs—he's creating a genuine connection with every child. Through storytelling, conversation, patience, and authentic interactions, children leave believing they have truly spent time with Santa himself.
